PS3 Trophies
As I have now been working in IT for the past year as a Software Engineer (specialising in Web Application Development), and been actively building web application for the past eight years, I have begin to wonder if using an open source application and extending it is better or worse than building your own application from the ground up. I know that open source has most of the work done to begin with and I have meet people that will argue until they turn blue in the face that open source is the way to go. I’m a person that is not easily convinced and I find it better to learn how applications work by looking at them in the most basic of forms.
If someone asked me 18 months ago if I would be working in IT by now, I would have told them maybe, but I’m not holding my breath. Well March 25, 2009 marks the first year that I have been working in the Information Technology industry, as a Software Engineer (as my employer would say, I see myself more as an Internet Application Developer), but that is just a title.
In keeping with tradition I am going to keep releasing my “year in reflection” posts on the first month of the New Year. That gives me plenty of time to think about the year that has past and reflect on it.
Since I graduated from University in December 2007 it has been a bit of a ride. Most people know me as the quiet observer that will sit in the room and watch everything happening, 2008 was no different.
If there is one thing that annoys me it is the lack of helpful documentation around a task for popular scripts and applications. One of those such tasks is Building a Trac Theme. This will be the first guide I have compiled and I don’t intend on making it my last, so feedback and comments would be welcomed.
After all this time, planning and me wishing I had a computer that I could play some high quality games on, I now have it and I could not be happier. Actually I could be happier, but for now the computer will be enough to keep me happy. So keep reading and see what all this time and money has gone towards
The new computer is now built. The operating system still needs to be installed and that is be covered in the next post, where the computer will be named. All the components are brand NEW none are 2nd Hand, Refurbished or even factory seconds. Continue reading to see what the computer now has and to see an updated picture.
I’m now closer to having a brand new computer. I can now turn it on but cannot install the operating system yet as there is no optical drive and to see anything I have to plug it into my current 17″ 4:3 LCD monitor. I have done that and it works. Not that I expected it not to work. It detects that there is a 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM and the 1GB of dedicated memory on the graphics card. If this computer does not play RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (RCT3) I will be very upset. All the components are brand NEW none are 2nd Hand, Refurbished or even factory seconds. Continue reading to see what the computer now has and to see an updated picture.
There are many things that I enjoy doing in my spare time and one of them is playing SingStar on my PS3. I have the entire collection and becasue I can’t be bothered to keep my profile on the SingStar online section and it doesn’t support PS2 versions I’m going to post some video captures here.
The first one is Good Charlotte – The River. I was suprised when I got the score for this one.
